John H. Hajjar, M.D., F.A.C.S., MBA

A Diplomat of the American Board of Urology with nearly 25 years of practice experience, Dr. John H. Hajjar is the CEO of Urology Specialty Care and holds several hospital appointments as well, including at Passaic General Hospital and Hackensack Medical Center.

In addition to caring for patients with a wide range of urology conditions, Dr. Hajjar has also dedicated much of his time to advancing the accessibility of effective medical care in the New Jersey area.  Dr. Hajjar is the founder and chairman of Surgem, a company that manages surgery centers, and also founded six surgery centers since 1993, currently serving as Medical Director of SurgiCare Surgical Associations in Fair Lawn.  He also founded and remains actively involved with two medical technology companies that aim to improve many practices within the healthcare industry.

Dr. Hajjar graduated with his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, before completing his internship and residency training in General Surgery and then Urology at NYU-Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital and other affiliated facilities. Dr. Hajjar was the recipient of the Valentine Fellowship award for his research on DNA Analysis of Primary Renal Cell Carcinoma.  He also completed an MBA from the University of Tennessee to further his knowledge of managing office-based surgicenters.

Dr. Hajjar maintains a special interest in the use of local anesthesia for transurethral resection of the prostate, and has participated in research studies that subsequently appeared in leading publications and presentations. In addition, Dr. Hajjar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Urological Association and its New York and New Jersey sections.
